Periodontal disease has been linked to other serious health issues – including heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, Alzheimer’s, and more. It’s important to treat periodontal disease as soon as possible to ensure that you can continue to live a healthy lifestyle. For patients who have been on a periodontal maintenance program with their dental provider or are experiencing symptoms of gingivitis, a non-invasive treatment adjunct called laser pocket disinfection may be a good fit.

What Is Laser Pocket Disinfection?

It’s a minimally invasive treatment that uses a specially designed dental laser to target and destroy the specific bacteria that can cause inflammation and periodontal disease.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Laser light energy selectively destroys hazardous bacteria leaving healthy tissue intact and helps to prevent further progression of gum disease.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Laser pocket disinfection has been used for over 25 years, and has no known side-effects. It’s safe to use around dental implants and teeth that have fillings or crowns.

DOES LPD REPLACE LASER PERIODONTAL SURGERY?

Laser pocket disinfection does not replace Laser Periodontal Surgery, but can be used following surgery during your routine hygiene visits to aid in the reduction of bacteria.
