WHAT IS CROWN LENGTHENING?
Crown lengthening is required when your tooth needs a new crown or restoration. Typically, the edge of the crown is too deep below the gum tissue and isn’t accessible. Adjusting the levels of gum tissue and bone around the tooth allows us to reach this edge and ensure a proper fit to the tooth. Doing this provides enough structure for the tooth so the new crown does not come loose in the future. After the procedure is completed, a protective bandage will be put in place to help secure the new tooth-to-gum relationship.
